Derek graduated from Nipissing University with a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting. He is currently a manager within the audit and assurance team, specializing in non-profits, charities, and social housing organizations. He is also a member of the Professional Standards Committee and assists with keeping the Firm up to date on accounting and audit standards.

Derek enjoys being active and plays in a variety of different recreational leagues across the city, in both hockey and soccer.
